Malaysians are really friendly and getting around the country is
absolutely safe, but regarding some things, travelers should always be

travelers from abroad should ensure that they're not wearing any
provocative clothes. And especially more so, when you're traveling any

Make sure that your body is covered, especially chest, arms and
legs. Try to dress in a conservative manner at religious places to
avoid any unwanted attention.
While roaming in small towns and villages such as Kelantan and
Khota, dress decently so that you don't get into any unnecessary
situation.
It's recommended to cover your head by wearing a scarf at such
places.
It's absolutely fine to wear t-shirts, jeans, pants and shirts,
but not skirts.
On beaches and islands, it's fine to wear anything you desire.
For women, hands-shake is a sign of candidness and it is usually
avoided with men.
It is not recommended to show public displays of affection. Avoid
doing any such physical activity which appears intimate.
Regarding smoking, it is better to smoke in your rooms otherwise
you could land up in some unwanted situation.
While going to any mosque, always remember to be clothed
completely.
