As the name suggests, Tun Abdul Razak Memorial was established in the
loving memory of the second Prime Minister of Malaysia-the late Tun
Abdul Razak. The Memorial, built in Oct' 1961, used to be the official
residence of the legend himself until his death in 1976. However, this
building called Sri Taman was shortly occupied (1978 - 1981) by
Malaysia's third Prime Minister-Tun Hussein Onn.
Tun Razak, who was a brilliant administrator, is even now
affectionately remembered for his sagacity of social justice and the
rural development programmes, he conducted. As recognition of the
prodigy's contribution to the growth of the country and its people, Sri
Taman was legitimately turned into Tun Abdul Razak Memorial in 1994.
Since it was established to preserve all the library materials,
documents and personal belongings of Tun Abdul Razak, the memorial has
actually maintained the personal touch in the entire exhibition.
Be it Tun's favorite golf cart or speed boat, the exhibition has even
revealed his well-maintained bedroom and study room that comprise the
original furnishings. Moreover, Tun's one of the favorite hobbies is
also on display i.e. his collection of walking sticks. In fact, some
other interesting things like the gifts, souvenirs and momentos, which
Tun received from the monarchs throughout the world, are also on
display. These include some of the world's finest works of art. To
conclude, Tun Abdul Razak Memorial is a great place to visit on a trip
to Kuala Lumpur.
